Casting back to the summer holidays of 2019. These were taken on two trips to Porto and to Afife including the surrounding area (even with a day trip to Spain thrown in as well) . Well worth a visit if I may say so…..

After a rather difficult period I’m rekindling my love of photography. Returning to visit Dubai has undoubtedly helped, offering me a host of different motifs that I just couldn’t resist. Watch this space for more from this place and elsewhere….

or a visit to the Hackischen Höfe (Berlin) with a rather surreal analogue film.
Be sure to scroll through all the pictures. Strange sights, strange film, I particularly like the camel with a camera…..

This was taken with the old Rolleiflex and a very particular high definition film from ADOX with 12 ISO.

….since I last posted anything. To be honest I’ve been searching (as ever) for a little inspiration for a new project lasting 53 weeks and I can’t seem to settle on that “one” subject. It’s not for the lack of ideas it’s just that that simply I don’t want to confine myself to one type of motive or one medium or one of whatever…..
Therefore the next few posts will be of things that I’ve been shooting over the past three months. While you read these I’ll be racking my brains for that new “one” subject…..

…. you’ve met before.
I have to admit that I took these a few weeks ago, but as I’ve only just got them back from the lab. I think it’s okay to publish them now, especially as summer is still in full swing here. They were both taken on Fuji Provia 100f slide film, I’ve cropped and sharpened a little but nothing else. I’ve also compressed them to half their size, so you can get an idea of the detail. Shooting slide film is costly and time-consuming and you never really know what you’re going to get, but if the shots come out right then they really are an eye catcher!
Yashica MAT 124G Yashinon f3.5 80mm Fuji Provia 100F Epson V500This was taken early in the morning whilst on my way to work on that “sit up and beg” style Dutch bike of mine that I have mentioned previously. The view is from the Havelstrasse across to the Hans Otto theatre in Potsdam.
I’ve finally gone full frame, albeit analogue. This was shot with a Pentacon 50mm f1.8 (effectively a Meyer Oreston 50mm f1.8) lens on a Praktica MTL3 camera which were last produced around 1984. The MTL3 is completely manual with the only electronics being an inbuilt TTL light meter. It is pure East German precision engineering even if the technology used is over five decades old.
I’m really enjoying shooting film at the moment so be prepared for more in the coming weeks. This shot is OOC as they say, meaning straight out of the camera with no digital development whatsoever.
If I remember rightly:
